Leaves dark purplish brown, glossy, folded upwards at the margins; young leaves not wrinkled. Autumn colour red. Raised at Herk-de-Stadt, Belgium, around 1936 and put into commerce by Faasen-Hekkens, Tegelen, Holland. For this information we are indebted to G. Krüssmann, Handbuch der Laubgehöolze.
