Eurya

The cultivated form of Eurya japonica is a dwarf and slow-growing bush with a horizontal spreading habit (Savill Glade, Westonbirt Arboretum, 24/02/2024). Image Katy Savage.

A genus closely related to Cleyera, but distinguished by the smaller, dioecious flowers. There are some fifty species in S.E. Asia and a few in the Pacific.
