A genus which, as interpreted here, consists of only a single species – the common quince. For the three shrubby quinces described in previous editions under Cydonia, see Chaenomeles. A fifth species, the rare Cydonia sinensis, is best considered as constituting an independent genus and will be found under Pseudocydonia.
