This small genus, with two species in C. and S. China, is the only member of the Maple family other than Acer itself. From the true maples it is very distinct in its fruit, in which each of the pair of nutlets is evenly winged all around; the leaflets, too, are more numerous than in any of the pinnate-leaved maples.
