A genus of about 150 species of annual and perennial plants, the latter mostly herbaceous, natives of the temperate regions of the northern hemisphere. Leaves imparipinnate; flowers in axillary racemes; pods flat, subdivided into segments, each with one seed (often reduced to a single segment in the species described here).
