R. repens var. chamaethomsonii Tagg & Forr

A dwarf but not creeping shrub, up to 3 ft high. Leaves oblong-obovate to obovate, up to 3 in. or even slightly more long, sometimes slightly hairy beneath. Flowers crimson up to four or even five in each truss. Calyx larger than in R. forrestii, fleshy. Described from specimens collected by Forrest and Rock in N.W. Yunnan and bordering parts of Tibet.
