An Asiatic genus of some twenty species of climbing shrubs with undivided, untoothed, alternate leaves and small flowers produced in the leaf-axils. The parts of the flowers are usually in fives. The only ally near to this genus amongst hardy trees and shrubs is Meliosma, whose species are very different in their tree or bush form, their toothed or pinnate leaves, and their usually terminal panicles of flowers.
